You can adjust the speed on the self propelled feature of the mower. There is a lever on the left side of the mower handle and allows you to adjust from the fastest setting (indicated by a rabbit at the top of the gauge) and the slowest setting (indicated by a turtle at the bottom of the gauge). You can adjust the self propelled speed anywhere in between high and low speed to mow at a comfortable speed for you.

I'm inquiring if there is a fix or should I order a new speed controller.
Hello Barry Huddlestun, if the speed controller is not working, parts can be purchased for repair. Using the model number of the mower please search ServiceNet
I searched and having removed the part. I'm now waiting patiently for an answer by email. As to wether the part is available.
