The size of the pilot hole needed should be listed on the screw extractor package.
How To Use:
1. Drill a pilot hole in the head of the broken screw or bolt using a drill bit of the same size stamped on the shank of the extractor and listed in the table below.
2. Insert the screw extractor in the pilot hole and turn it to the left, using an open end or adjustable wrench - the screw or bolt will ease out.
Extractor Number | Head size of screw/bolt | A bit size |
1 | 3/16" to 1/4" | 5/64" |
2 | 1/4" to 5/16" | 7/64" |
3 | 5/16" to 7/16" | 5/32" |
