In order to receive an NOAA signal, you should put the radio in the ALERT mode. Before setting the radio in the ALERT mode, you should set the frequncy for your area, locating a valid NOAA signal.
Sometimes, based on your location, it might not be possible to tune in a signal. The location of the towers determine how well you will receive reception based on obstructions in the area. Most towers provide a 40-mile wide diameter signal, if the area is flat and clear of obstructions, such as buildings, trees and hills.
