It is recommended that the hammer action function is used when drill into masonry.
You can drill in masonry without using the hammering action, but it will be slower and you must use a proper masonry drill bit. It's strongly recommended to use a hammer drill for efficiency, but a standard drill with a carbide-tipped masonry bit can work for softer materials like brick or for smaller jobs.
