New Hedge trimmer only beeps

New LHT2220B 20V B&D Hedge trimmer. First use, it cut 3 twigs on bush, then stopped. Checked for jamb/blockage, found none. Pressed trigger, trimmer only beeped once, and would not work. Tried another battery, same…one beep-no work. Charged both batteries, quick tested on blower, both batteries worked fine. Tried both batteries in Hedge trimmer, no joy.
Manual troubleshooting section doesn't even mention a beep, muchless what the beep means. What's wrong? What can I do?
Frustratingly awaiting assistance.
