Black + Decker BPACT14WT Portable Air Conditioner, 14,000 BTU emitting foul-smelling air

I have had this Black + Decker BPACT14WT Portable Air Conditioner, 14,000 BTU for 4 years.  Today it started blowing foul-smelling air – kind of like fish and chips.  I have drained the humidifier, and only a few drops come out the hose.  I just saw an article about this, but now I can't find it.

 

Any suggestions?
