Black and Decker generator- ground terminal

We have just purchased a Black & Decker petrol generator- BXGNP6510E. There is an on/off button on the front just next to the DC terminals which is labelled as "ground terminal" in the instruction manual. Anybody know whether this should this be switched on while the generator is in use? And if so, when in the start up process? It's not mentioned in the manual other than in the diagram. Thanks
