Defective Dustbuster

Purchased 3 CHV141OL dustbusters two years ago.  Just took one out of the box and it will not charge.  My old dustbuster is over 6 years old.  What is the deal with newer version?  Seems like it there should be a recall… I see I'm not the only one with this issue.
