Yes, All our battery chargers have reverse polarity circuits built in, and they require 2VDC to 3VDC in the battery, so they can check for proper connections. It is a safety feature and cannot be bypassed.
If the battery is totally dead, disconnect the battery charger, remove the positive terminal from the battery, and let it sit for about an hour. If the battery is good, it will come up to a level where it will take a charge. If the battery does not come up to a level where it can take a charge, then the battery will need to be taken to an automotive service center to be tested.
