Cannot remove the fan cover. Directions sound easy, but do not work. Can anyone offer advice?

Hello Frank O Stanway and thank you for contacting us. The release for the fan cover is located at the back of the power head. Insert the long screwdriver into the slotted end, push in a little to activate the release. Thank you and have a great day.

Product works with blower tube. Did not work with vacuum tube. I discovered that electrical safety lockout did not connect. I jammed paper into slot causing safety switch to permanently connect (thus defeating safety switch). This is a product defect.
