I purchased a B&D string trimmer , LSTE523 Type 2 about 3 years ago from Menards. Recently it seems to run slower so I bought a new battery. Didn't help. Found it had a bad spool spindle bearing, so online I purchased a new spool, spindle, and bearing part. When I received it I found it did not fit. I was advised to return this part. I checked for the correct part and could not find it. I contacted the B&D help line (Maycol) and was told the part I got was for another unit. My part is not available. I was told to take it to the nearest repair station (72 miles away) for evaluation. When I checked with this hardware store they only minimal repairs and charge $30.00 for evaluation. If parts are not available in cannot be repaired. The store suggest another brand. When contacted the help line again, I was told it wasn't their problem they don't make the part or the trimmer. When I asked for higher up person to help me I was told that no else could help. I am retired and on SS and have purchased numerous B&D tools and feel this is wrong. I ask for possible discount for future purchase and was told NO. I realize that this help line is done overseas with very little capability for customers. I think this is totally unfair on B&D part. Very unhappy customer.
