pivot dust buster 20V- how to re attach caniter/nozzle piece to motow/handheld piece

Can anyone help me please- I can not get the 2 pieces to re attach which I took apart to inspect how the whole thing works. It says I mwillheaer a click, but I do not. How do I line up the 2 pieces? Should the "opening button" be depresed when you want to re attach?
